We are currently seeking a few women in the Pittsburgh area who are between 7 and 9 months pregnant to expand our soon-to-be-launched Maternity & Newborn website.

If selected, you will receive a free mini “Awaiting” (maternity) session as well as a generous discount offer on an “Arrived” (newborn) session. You will sign a model release allowing us to use your images for promotional purposes. Our Fresh Faces session will run for about 45 minutes. All sessions are done at your house or at another mutually agreeable location. Shoots are to take place within the Pittsburgh area, however, if you are outside the area, you may still be eligible for a complimentary session by paying a travel fee.

Please read the FAQ and then contact us to set up a session date.

FAQs

How long is this running? Once we fill the openings we wish, we may close the offer without further notice. If you are interested, contact us to set up your shoot right away.

How many pictures will I get to choose from? Sessions vary, but you can usually expect to see at least 15 images.

What’s a model release? When you set up a session we send you a link to the agreement which contains the model release for you to complete. The model release explicitly permits the studio to use the images in promoting our services.

How does this work? After you send your information, we will review it. For those selected, we will initially contact you by phone to talk about setting up the session. After the shoot we will process images and will upload the images to a gallery where you may view all the presented images. The gallery will be “live” for one week. Our online gallery makes it easy for you to view and purchase images. You are under no obligation to purchase anything from us, although we hope that you love what we present and want images of the first chapter of your baby’s life.

How is this different than a regular session? A regular session typically lasts longer and provides you with more images to select from.

Can my significant other/child(ren)/animal be part of the shoot? Yes, but keep in mind that this session is focused on the expecting mom, so additional people will only be photographed with the mom-to-be and may not appear in many images. However, due to time constraints with these mini sessions, we limit the number of subjects to a maximum of 3 people. If you would like photos of the other individuals, we encourage you to book one of our regular sessions for them.

What should I wear? We will discuss particulars if you are selected for the shoot.

What if I need to change our session time or date? Please be courteous and call us in advance. As these are complimentary sessions, we may not be able to reschedule, so we urge you to keep your appointment.

More questions? We’d love to talk with you. Email us through our CONTACT button at the top of the page, directly (info at andreakellyphotography dot com) or call us at 814.937.0397, we will be happy to answer your questions!

The decision was tough, but ultimately, we decided upon Kristy and Steve who are getting married on Friday, October 3, 2008. Each person on my judging panel felt that the volunteer-ism shown by these two embodies the qualities I was hoping to find when I announced this contest. They give of themselves – putting their lives in danger, not expecting financial gain for doing so. I’ve had the chance to talk with Kristy on the phone and I’m truly excited about the opportunity to work with her, Steve, and their family and friends.

Here is an excerpt from the letter I received from Desireé, the person who nominated them:

Steve and Kristy met almost 4 years ago while both working nights and weekends at the same local restaurant. A short time after becoming coworkers, Kristy learned that the reason Steve was taking on the long, late night hours was not because he wanted to, but rather out of necessity. In addition to being a full time college student, Steve also volunteered all of his free time as a fire fighter and EMT for the town fire department. The first time I met Steve, I vividly remember the silver band worn around his wrist. Engraved on it, the name of a fallen fire fighter who lost his life on 9-11. To him, it didn’t matter that he had never met this man, it was an honor to display the name of a hero to anyone he met, at every chance he got. In that moment, I knew I was shaking the hand of a compassionate man and for that, I was thrilled. During that same year, Steve’s dedication to providing the community countless hours of service earned him the award and title of “Fire Fighter of the Year”. This all came as no surprise to our family, anyone who knows Steve also knows how dedicated he is to his passion.

Kristy, recognizing the difference her boyfriend was making through his unselfish volunteer work, soon decided to join forces with Steve. With the encouragement he gave her, she too soon began giving up numerous weekends of leisure time and dedicated them instead, to unpaid training for the fire department. In Kristy’s first year of service and 2 years after first meeting Steve, she too earned the award and title of “Fire Fighter of the Year”. Other than the departments’ chief, Kristy responded to more calls that any of her fellow volunteers, all the while juggling her full time medical billing career. Watching her commitment for saving lives grow into her own personal passion was again, amazing. So many times I have seen write ups in the paper or on the web and more than once, Kristy and Steve have been on the front lines of life saving rescues.

This now brings us to where these two are today. Steve recently graduated college and accepted a career fire fighting position in his home township of Winslow, NJ. We are so proud of him and his willingness to do what had to be done to finish his degree, but also, always finding time to be with our family. Kristy still holds a full time career as a medical biller as well as continuing to attend biweekly, unpaid training classes on the weekends for the fire department. In addition to Steve’s new position, he also continues to volunteer his free time with Kristy at the fire department where this all started. To help defer some of the impending wedding costs, he also works any available shifts that he can as an EMT. Sometimes when I think about how much these two accomplish in a week, I wonder how they find time to sleep.

Andrea, your work is something I would have wanted for my own wedding and what I KNOW they’d love and appreciate, should they be chosen as winners. In fact, I cannot think of two more unselfish, courageous, deserving people in my life.

One of the things that I’m really excited about doing with the new blog is running contests and promotions from time to time. For quite a while, I’ve wanted to find a truly special couple to donate my services to. As a former bride, I know how quickly the wedding day goes by and how easy it is to miss important moments or not remember them until looking through photos later. I also know what it is to have restrictions that make it difficult to have the type of wedding and photographer that you dream about…so with that in mind, I’ve decided to run a contest.

I’m looking for truly deserving couples who have a great story – ones who may have endured hardships or have overcome obstacles together; not someone who is having an elaborate wedding in some exotic location (though I’m happy to photograph those, I can’t afford to foot the travel costs associated) – this contest is to give something to a couple who may not otherwise be able to have the moments of their wedding day captured by a professional wedding photographer.

Some simple rules:

The couple must be getting married in fall or winter of 2008 and have both their date and location set.

I must have the date available (obviously!).

Couples that have already booked my services aren’t eligible for the contest (sorry!).

The couple sign my standard wedding day agreement and allow me to use their names and images for promotions such as my blog.

Send a recent photo of the couple that is a maximum of 800 pixels on the long side must be attached (please, no large files) along with a story no more than 1000 words as to why you or who you are nominating is the best couple to win. Oh, and it will be really helpful to have ways to contact everyone.

Entries must be received via email at contest @ andreakellyphotography.com (eliminate the spaces) no later than May 15, 2008

The winners will receive 7-8 hours of wedding day photography by me, online posting of all their presented images, an 8×8 30-image album, and a DVD of the images when the album is completed. The stories will be reviewed by me and my panel of judges and the winner will be announced on the blog. So, do something good for someone that deserves it…spread the word, send this link out to family, friends, acquaintances, etc…I want this contest to be a difficult one for us to pick a winner. Oh, and for those of you who don’t qualify for this contest, be sure to come back since there are plans underway to have other assorted contests and give-aways in the coming months.
